Join the Rhode Island Geriatric Education Center and the Virginia Geriatric Education Center for a three-part webinar series on lifelong intellectual disabilities. This series is for members of the aging network, such as health care professionals, human service providers, agency staff, program developers, policymakers, and faculty, who are interested in improving care for people with intellectual disabilities affected by dementia.

- Session 1: Introduction to Lifelong Intellectual Disabilities
- This will be an overview of lifelong intellectual disabilities, including critical differences between older adults aged 50 and over and mid-life adults.
- Wed, June 10, 12 pm – 1 pm (EDT)
- Session 2: Service Needs: Identifying and Responding to Dementia
- We will identify prevalence, onset, and types of dementia, common co-morbidities among adults with lifelong intellectual disabilities, and discuss service needs and ways to respond to dementia.
- Wed, June 24, 12 pm – 1 pm (EDT)
- Session 3: Community and Clinical Issues
- A discussion of community and clinical aspects of dementia identification and diagnosis, and provision of medical and social supports.
