It’s been a year since we’ve been living with COVID-19, and to say life has changed feels like an understatement. We have been collecting reflections on living through a pandemic and turned to our Patient and Family Advisors for what they’ve learned and what they’re looking forward to as we start to consider a life post-pandemic.

What is something you learned about yourself during COVID-19?

Being a retired introvert makes living through a pandemic relatively easy and painless.  Zoom meetings can be as productive and much less hassle than going to in-person meetings, though even for an introvert seeing old friends in-person adds pleasure and value.

Are you getting vaccinated?

I finished my two Pfizer shots about 2 months ago.

How did you feel about it?

It was a relief to get past the shots, but life really hasn’t changed all that much, and probably won’t until a much higher proportion of the population has been vaccinated.

What is something you’re looking forward to?

We love traveling and going to various arts events and look forward to getting back to some of that. Another learning during the pandemic has been that our cooking is generally better than what we can get at restaurants for lots of money, so probably won’t return to the old pattern of eating out.
