Standardized education for patients across different healthcare settings is feasible
Providence, RI (July 6, 2017) – A coalition of healthcare practitioners in Rhode Island, in partnership with quality improvement experts at Healthcentric Advisors, designed and implemented a standardized, COPD education program for use across multiple healthcare settings. The pilot, which aimed to improve patients’ ability to manage their chronic conditions through providing practitioners with education and tools, included more than 60 local organizations. The findings demonstrate that implementation of a community-based program to disseminate patient-centered, standardized COPD education in multiple healthcare settings is feasible.
