BACKGROUND


The goal of this 2.8 million dollar training grant program is to maximize the expertise of Rhode Island health care workers with state-of-the art training in Electronic Health Records. Designed to meet the needs of those who work in physician offices, long - term care, and hospitals, the program has classes to meet worker’s needs at three different levels of skill; Entry Level, Intermediate Level, and CPEHR Preparation Level.

In response to many of our partners request for Electronic Health Record Training and to better serve you, Healthcentric Advisors, Quality Institute and New England Institute of Technology have partnered to provide this free electronic health record training. This unique program allows you to gain the skills you need to be better equipped to use the technology in your work place.

If you are looking for a way to enhance your professional education while meeting the other demands in your life, the Electronic Health Record program, a flexible, health care - specific program that leads to certification, may be the answer you have been looking for.

ENROLLMENT PROCESS

Begin by taking an on-line assessment called Prove-it! This helps to place you in one of three levels. You can set your own pace and choose the classes that will help you in your daily work. Take one class or take them all! It’s up to you. You can cross levels, meaning that if you are in the Entry Level, but would like to know more about Excel (an Advanced Level class) you can take it no problem! Classes are held at night from 5:15 pm to 8:30 pm with each class meeting once per week. If you are in Entry or Intermediate Levels, we encourage you to strive for the Specialist Certificate. The third level prepares you for the CPEHR exam. Grades are pass/fail.

EASY STEPS

  1. Click on the “Student Sign-up”.
  2. Shortly, within a day or two, you’ll receive a notification from Prove-it ! to take the EHR assessment . It takes an average of 38 minutes.
  3. A notification is sent giving you feedback about your skill level along with a NEIT registration form.
  4. A class schedule will be sent to you announcing classes in all the levels.
  5. Click on the box or boxes indicating your class choices.
  6. Show up and have fun!

CPEHR PREPARATION
This ten-week course prepares the student with the educational information and skills that will allow him/her to pass the Certified Professional in Electronic Health Records (CPEHR) exam.

This nationally accepted designation will indicate that the holder has mastered the Common Body of Knowledge covering planning, implementation, operation of EHR for knowledge management, quality improvement, e-prescribing, and patient safety.

The CPEHR curriculum addresses strategies to make the most of EHR investment, enhancing capabilities, using new technologies, and building value for the individual responsible for system for implantations and operations.
